cannot find this in search, first gear start .which year

did it happen on the 190e 2.3. at the bone yard how can i tell if the trany i am looking at has first gear start? i can get a 91 trany,but not sure which style it is. thanks rich

On the W201 2.6l, first gear start was in 1992. Not completely sure if that was the case for the 2.3l vehicle, but to play it safe, get a 92+ trans not a 91

We have a '91 300E with 1st-gear start but I don't think all '91s are that way.

I agree, '92 should be safe.
