I changed the AC condenser on my wife's 87 300E last weekend and noticed while driving to have the system charged that the car seemed to run hot (85 degree day-car at or near 110C in stop and go traffic). Today at 72 degree the car seemed to operate at about 100C or higher in stop and go traffic. I don't know if I did something while changing the AC condersor of forgot something. Did I overlook something? Is this normal or should I look for something else. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or information.

How did you get the condenser out of the car? You should have had to remove the radiator, etc. That's where I would start looking, ie coolant level, air in the cooling system, thermostat.. Good luck..

check the fuse that is on the a/c relay. It is in the plastic box behind the regular fuse box. Six Phillips head screws to access.
If it is blown and is marked as being 15 amps change it to a 20 amp. circuit is good for approximately 18 amps. good luck engatwork |
I took the radiator out to instaff the new AC condenser. I did open the bleed screw until coolant came out; coolant level seems to be okay. The Aux fan does work when the AC is on. The air conditioning does seem to work okay and is blowing cold air. I don't think it ran this hot before my work. Thanks for your input.

Two things come to mind. The thermostat ain't workin right and/or the radiator is paritally blocked. Remove the tstat and see what she does. If it's cooler, replace with 88 degree item.
