New Benz owner
Hello everyone, I am new Mercedes owner, very first European car as a matter of fact. I just bought a 87 Mercedes 190 E to use as a daily driver. I was wondering where I could get a manual for this car for #1. Secondly, could anyone tell me what the "dummy light" is that is next to the Tempature gauge just below the speedometer? It almost looks like an engine with oil in the bottom but I cant tell. The reason I ask is this light flickers off and on intermittingly in this car. Can someone on this great site help me?

the light you described seems to be the low coolant light. Could be a loose connection or sensor.
If you call 1-800-for-mercedes you can order a new car owners manual plus order a booklet of approved lubricants Check out Haynes for a manual, www.haynes.co.uk Ebay may even have actual MB service manuals. You may want to join The Mercedes Benz Club -www.mbca.org- has a diesel technical advisor that is an incredible source of info on the 190's, he owns multiple 190's also consider joining the following club by applying to email to, club-request@mbz.org with SUBSCRIBE as text ~~ it is an e-mail list dedicated to all things Mercedes |

Congrats on your purchase.
Is it the 2.3L or the 2.6L? What milleage does it have? Did you get the car with full service records?
As for a tech manual, I have the haynes it is OK anything that I can not find in there, the great people of this forum have helped out enormously.
