Is there a lubricant that is safe/good to use on window guide channels??
I've got a window that seems to balk at going up in "automatic" mode. It senses a blockage about half-way up and stops. I'll hit the switch again to raise it the rest of the way, and it senses another blockage at the top and comes down about an inch. It does this about 50%+ of the time (works normally the rest of the time). I am thinking the window mechanism is sensing too much resistance, and lube will fix this. If it matters, the car is a 1994 S500. Thanks, Barry |
You can try some drying silicone spray lube. Most of the time the control unit is faulty. I have replaced quite a few. Also, another trick is to have someone add a little resistance to the window and raise and lower it a few times, this will up the effort value in the control unit.

Thank you. Putting some side-pressure on the window as it was going up seemed to do the trick.
I'll still get some lubricant for the window channels, but the "brain" seemed to respond to the additional resistance. Thanks for the most excellent advice!!! Barry |
