HELP--C230 Oil Filter
I'm trying to change the oil/filter. I've drained the oil, but can't get the filter out--does it require a special tool? Thanks!:confused:

is it locate at the top of the engine? If yes, it need special tool.

It's a cap type wrench.Fits over the entire filter assembly. Run down to Walmart you can pick up one there. The filter is top of the engine as you open the hood, just to the right.

dealer sells them, I've seen them for between six and eleven dollars at the dealer.
but you can try a rubber towel and try to twist off by hand, it SHOULD only be tightened to 18 ft. lbs. |

Thanks for the helpful tips--mission successfully accomplished! I found the oil filter wrench at Pep Boys for $4.50 (a 14 fluted 76mm tool that fits perfectly).
