Dilemma

After carefully monitoring this forum for the past three months, I decided to change my ignition coil, potentiometer, water temp sensor, and air temp sensor. A few months ago, I had my car diagnosed for a hesitation/stalling and hard start problem and that diagnostic confirmed what you guys have been saying. I haven't made these changes until now because the dealership led me to believe that the entire mass air flow meter needed to be replaced. A big +/- $600 maybe to correct the problem.

Now after install, the hesitation/stalling is gone and based on the "seat of your pants meter" there is more power readily available on tap.

The Dilemma arises in that after installing the potentiometer I've ran into a few scenarios. If I install the potentiometer too high, all is well, but when coming to a stop the RPMs bounce from 1k to near cutoff. When I readjust to the bottom, all is well, but when I come to a stop, the car stalls completely. In it's current position, both of these are solved however upon initial start RPMs are about 1k then begin to jump from 1k to near cutoff for approx. 10-15 secs. The car runs perfectly until next start.

Is there a way to get the potentiometer perfectly adjusted?

And to get a head start on the next project.... I need instructions on getting the city lights on EUROs to work independently of the main driving lights. Also if possible, get the main driving lights from the current fog light position to the exterior portion of the assembly. I'm referring to 500E EURO headlights that I'm anxiously awaiting.
