Mystery Motor Mount/Shock?
 

The circled item is a mystery motor mount/shock that was found on a 1994 C280. To the right is the water pump in the picture.

It's a mystery to me because my 1996 C280 seems to be missing that part although it appears that the mounting spots are available on my car. I've had the motor mounts replaced in the past and am thinking of the outside possiblity that this was not reinstalled? Just guessing.

Does anyone know what the item is exactly, i.e., name, purpose, part #, and whether my C280 should have one? If not, why would it be discontinued?

Belt tension Shock.. Eliminated in mid- '95
