Hey Benz lovers!
I want to replace the power window switches and the bulb to the automatic shifter display on my 1983 300D. I want to do it myself, how do I remove the console w/o cracking or damaging the wood? And how do I seal it shut when i put it back into place? HELP ME!!! Thanks! |

jeepguy,
two screws hold the ashtray holder assembly in place. Once you have the holder out, all you need to do is pull the whole console assembly backwards toward the rear. There is a locating pin in the rearmost part of it so you need to pull straight back before it will come out AND UP. Keep it pushed down and once the pins clears the hole, then the console assembly can be lifted so that you can gain access to the switch connectors. You will also need to take off the rubber ring from around the shifter beforehand. Quick and simple. As the cajun guy said in "Waterboy", You can do it!!!! ------------------ FrankieZ 84 500SEL EURO 87K 85 300D 267K (and still goin' strong) [This message has been edited by fz500sel (edited 07-26-2000).] |
