88 124 cyl head temp with ir gun
 

my temp gauge works grea till 100c, then goes up to red and stays there for a while. tapping dash will bring it back to 90-100c
still some times it bugs me.when i use my ir gun to check temp the thermostat is about 203f ,but top of head has temp at 212-223 f in some spots . no air pocket . 223f seems kind of high.
this is only in city traffic some times. also the coolant is red.
local german parts house says coolant should be blue
i would like to have correct coolant in car. should to be able to fix gauge but its on list. just not sure bout the temp in f degrees.
