I have a 1989 300e...When i hit certain raised bumps in the road or when i go up my driveway, there is occasionally a cracking or creaking sound coming from the front suspension..the specific area i do not know, but i would like to find out what it is..could it be old and worn out shocks? i dont believe the shocks have ever been replaced on the car..thanks

Creaking can be bushings or ball joints. Cracking, I don't know. What's the mileage?
You can try to isolate it by pushing down as hard as you can on the front corners and see if you can produce the noise. ------------------ Jeff Lawrence 1987 300e 1989 300e 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE |
jeffsr,
that's exactly what i tried...me and my cousin pushed down as hard as we can on the corners of the car, esp. the front right, and the car makes a crackling sound..not really cracking sound...this has been a problem already with the stock tire/rim combo. but now with the 17in setup, it is more prevalent.. if it is the balljoints, how extensive is a repair is it? thanks Ben p.s. mileage is 95,000 miles [This message has been edited by edict (edited 07-30-2000).] |
