On my 83 300D the chrome or aluminium trim that runs around the center of the windshield gasket, anyone have any suggestions on keeping it in place? It has popped out in a couple places.Do I have to have the windshield resealed or worse yet replaced?

Keith, It's aluminum and if it's at all distorted or bent, it will be a bear to keep in place. This is the same stuff BMW used in the mid to late '80's 3 series windshield trim. You will have to remove it from the channel and flatten it as best you can, then reinstall carefully tucking it back under the rubber lips. 3M makes an adhesive for trim and weather strip bonding, might consider that if it still wants to curl up on you.
