'84 500 idle/start problem
rebuilt topend , new chain/ rails, apart for months. 130K.
car ran a little rough when started up, with corrected timing it evened out... idled at 650.. seemed perfect. probably 25 miles in 3 trips... back in garage to put shocks/brakes/stereo in... now car won't run. symptoms- car will start but not keep running... one can pump it to keep it going but eventually dies after a minute or so. diagnostic pointed to Idle Control Module or Idle Control Valve. cleaned the ICV according to the threads ... worked, healthy click with jumper [ICM plugin jumper] so replaced ICM according to troublshooting procedure. New ICM made no difference at all. Cold Start Valve checks out fine, healthy stream of fuel during test. Last night re-soldered the OVP, made no difference. How does one tell isf OVP is bad? Have two Fuel pump relays and swapped them and made no difference. Currently have warm up regulator apart but it does not look bad. Seems to get gas at start from CSV but then cannot get any unless pumped vigorously. As long as the ICV clicks when jumpers on the ICM plugin it has to be good correct? Sure cleaned it up good and it seems good. Thanks for any ideas.
