I use a Johnson Controls Group 26R in place of the OE Group 48. Costco, Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. all sell this same battery with their own stick-on labels for about forty bucks. I peel off the labels to make a "plain black generic battery".

The CCA rating is 525 as I recall. The OE Group 48 is 495.

What's wrong with the low-maintenance Mercedes battery? I don't know what they sell for now but I paid under $100 for the the last one I bought which was made in the USA but identical to the Varta that used to be imported.
