Broken bolt removal
Hi, I need some guidance. I sheared off the head of a bolt. I think there's going to be a little bit still sticking out when I remove the part. I've NEVER had luck with EZ-out. What's the best tool to use to see if I can get a grip on the remains of the bolt and possibly be able to get it out. Vise grips? Some special tool?
The bolt had a 10MM head. Any advice is greatly appreciated |

6 mm bolt use a small 1/8" left hand twist drill bit. If that doesn't do it, then use a quality # 1 extractor in a proper size pilot hole.
Be certain to center the bit in the broken screw. You may have to smooth the top of the broken bolt with a mini mounted abrasive point to get a good centered start for the bit. If that doesn't work you could use a 1/16" extractor electrode available from Certaniunm Alloys, Cronatron or others. |
