new mb owner
Hi to all
Just purchased 1994 C280 and i am well pleased This is my first MB so i would be greatful for any help and info. A couple of questions 1) The central locking pump appears to run for anything upto 5 mins as soon as the ignition is switched on, it doesn't run continuous but appears to run on for 3seconds then off for 1second continually wether you actually start the engine or not, is this normal? 2) front passenger electric window packed up. drivers side ok. Its not the switch, I,ve checked it. but I am unable to get any further because of the lack of diagrams. Does anybody know where i can get good service manuals for this model? I presume the windows work from a relay? but i cant find one for them (so maybe they dont?).So do I strip the door and go for the motor? Any help would be very welcome cheers |

Welcome to the club lomste. You have a newer Benz than mine but if I'm not mistaken the manuals are on CD. With your central locking question, you may have a leak in one of the vaccuum lines somewhere causing the motor to run constantly and going out on a limb here it may be in the area of your window problem. I myself don't have the CD yet, getting most of my tips and tricks right here. So far mine has been relatively simple to work on. Happy Motoring with your new Benz.

Let me add my welcome from the "other side of the pond". Lots of good people here willing to help.
You can see all your wiring diagrams here: http://www.autolib.diakom.ru:8001/CAR/Mercedes-Benz/1994/C280/SYSTEM%20WIRING%20DIAGRAMS/ Troubleshooting the window shouldn't be hard. I bought my first Benz a little over a year ago and have found the on-line manual available at www.alldata.com to be very helpful. It will only set you back about 25 dollars per year; many don't like the "useability", but there is a lot of information there. Now that I'm used to the way the info is organized, I can can find stuff pretty easy. The vacuum information provided on my S class is extensive. Hope this helps.
