light for temperature display ?
Hello
was driving home tonight in my 1987 420SEL and noticed that I could not see the display on the digital temp gauge below the main gauges. is it supposed to be backlit? I've only had this car less than a year and rarely drove it at night, did not notice till tonight. The rest of the gauges are lit up well enough. dchang

I believe that display has the light built in. Might have to replace the display.

Yes im almost positive that the light is self contained within the display. i THINK you can actually see the small bulb soldered in there. not sure... If you could find the same bulb maybe you could try and solder it in yourself.. what do you have to lose, if it doesnt work youll need to replace it anyway!

I had one go out in a 90 300SL, I just took it a part and you could see the bulb was blown, cut the bulb out and headed to radio shack.
Whole job took about an hour. It wasn't hard at all. I don't remember what the bulb number was, just got one that looked the same, but then again this was a while ago there could have been numbers on it. Good luck! |
