Door check strap warning!
I replaced the door check strap in one of my rear door because it was making the usual noise when opening or closing the door. That was about 8 months ago. Well I had to do it again today because it was rusted. They did not have the plastic covers. This time I got the door check strap with the plastic cover that hopefully, will help with humitidy. Make sure you get them WITH the covers.
Good luck!

If you get one without a cover, can't you just transfer the old cover onto the new door check? It's just a piece of plastic.

Yes, you can transfer the old to the new one...
if the old one had it. Mine did not!

The plastic covers over the check straps were "added" later, probably to protect the lubrication on those little bearings and to make the check quieter.
