Dome Light wont work, bulbs are fine
 

I have a 1991 300E and when you open either the passenger or drivers door the light will not come on. I pulled the whole unit and the bulbs are fine.. Not even the map light works. I was just wondering what i could check to get this damn light to go on..

The fuse?

wouldnt the sunroof switch not work too?

Evan, the combination switch for the map lights must be in the proper position for the doors to activate the dome light. Refer to the Owner's Manual for information about the switch positions.

I understand that,, i cant even use the map light when im driving, the whole light doesnt work at all, no matter what position no matter what time...

Check for voltage at the switch. Perhaps the switch has failed?

I would have said seatbelt relay or door switches, except for the fact that the map light does not work.
