Timing Chain on 380sel?
According to the paperwork I have, my double-row chain has about 145k on it. I think I should replace it in about 5k. But I may not have the money then.
Will this make any tell-tale indications that it abso-freaking-lutely needs changed pronto? |
The best way to gauge timing chain wear is how far retarded the camshafts are from normal. MORE than 3-4 deg will cause a loss of $$$$$$.
|
The problem is not the chain, it is the rails. If they are also 150k old you are living on borrowed time. The rails are less than $15 for all three and are a DIY posibility.

They probably are. Chain, rails, tensioner, labor and all is 457.35 + tax.
Anything else I should replace while I am at it? All the required stuff works. |
