Have a 1990 560 Sel. I have had since about 176,000 miles (now has about 194,000). Recently (about a month) it has developed a jerking response when placed in the reverse gear. Sometimes the reverse gear appears not to engage well at all initially. Took it in to Precision Mercedes here in Tampa for service and they came back and said the reverse gear should be repaired because it is in "bad shape". I have been told that it (transmission) can be replaced for about $2200-$2500. My question(s) are has anyone else experienced this problem and should I try to have the reverse gear serviced or just bite the bullet and replace the whole transmission. Thanks in advance for the advise.
