bimmerman, if your car doesn't have ASR it doesn't have the electronic throttle. It seems like your problem is something else. Could be something simple like a fuel filter.

Are you positive? I have been told that Mercedes used the same throttle system, with or without ASR. Thanks.

I have a '92 400E w/out ASR and can tell you that it's old school cable style. When I move it at the linkage it directly moves the butterfly valve, I can see all the parts moving as well. Just take the air cleaner off and take a look, it'll make sense.

I understand. I did the same thing and mine moves the throttle butterfly also, even with everything off. The reason I asked, was because a tech on an earlier post said they all have it, ASR or not. I am confused (and I was confused before). I was under the impression there was an electromagnetic clutch that operated the throttle body, from what I've been told. Thanks.

I read through the previous posts and most of the people were under the impression that you had ASR. Since you don't, no need to worry about the electronic throttle, it doesn't have it, period.

It's something else that's wrong with your car, try searching for anything related to the M119 engine.
