I purchased some euro headlights and the clear markers for my 1989 124. First of all the clear cormers were two prong (yikes). That was the first indication I had screwed up. But, I switch out the old three prong ones from my other front indicators. The real sursprise was the headlights, they did not properly match up with the existing wiring harness connection for the headlights. The new lights are 5 prong and my old headlights used a 4 prong connector. Am I doomed and should returned the products, or is there a way to work out this problem.

Thanks for any help

Cardude,

I have not put Euro lights on my 124 car yet, but I have on my 123. I had to take the connector apart and switch the wires around to get everything right.

As for the 124. There is an article in the latest Star magazine, which came out just a few weeks ago, which goes into great detail regarding Euro headlights in an American 124 car.

Good luck,

Star magazine is it online also, or do I need to subscribe?

Oops Another silly question!

Cardude:

When I purchased my Euro lights from Bekkers, they came with the 5-prong mate. All I had to do was remove the wires from the old 4-prong and plug 'em into the correct positions in the new Euro 5-prong. I'd say you need to contact the supplier of your Euro lights and get the 5-prong connectors.

Good luck!

Cardude,

The Star is the MB Club of America magazine.
I think you can join by going to MBCA.com or something like that.

Good luck,

I was in the same situation as you with the Euro Headlights. You dont have to return them. Its not problem at all. All you have to do is take the wires out of the socket and connect the wires to the headlight pins--You dont need the socket at all. The only problem there is--knowing which wire goes to which pin. It'll take some trial and error, but you'll get it to work. Im also suprised about your clear side markers? Mine fit perfectly--a perfect swap.

Hope this helped....
