W210 interior autodim mirror
 

Hi...

I have a W210/208 interior autodim mirror with homelink and it has 7 wires. Can anyone please tell me what each wire is for so that I can hook it up in the W202? Thanks.

The color of the wires are:

2 x brown together (into the same pin on the plug) (ground wires?)
1 x red/white (power wire?)
2 x blue/white together (into the same pin on the plug)
1 x black/white
1 x green/white

I'm not seeing anything that shows these colors. Are the colors you mentioned part of the mirror itself? I'd assume so, since your 202 doesn't have the features the new one has. The wiring diagram doesn't show the wire colors inside the mirror, just on the body side of the connector.
Are you mainly concerned about the garage door opener, or you want the auto-dim too I suppose. On the wiring on the mirror, does it look like it would use a few different connectors? The garage door opener should have 3 dedicated wires just for that, so that should be easy.
On the auto-dim, there are several types of inputs, including reverse-gear input and input for the interior lights, as this all affects operation of the rear-view mirror. There is also an output tot the river outside mirror, as this also dims with the inside mirror. I can probably help get it sorted out, let me know about the questions I asked......

Yes, the colors that I've mentioned are on the mirror side. There is only one connector from the mirror, and it's the one with 5 pins, but 7 wires (2 sets of 2 wires go into the same pin).

Do you think the Homelink will use the same power as the mirror (i.e. there is only 1 power wire, and 1 ground wire for the Homelink)?

Do you think you can tell me the pin layout of the mirror connector on the body side (headliner) on a 99 E430? If I have this information, I should be able to figure out which wire is for which function.

You could try some bench-testing with a spare battery I suppose.
You may be correct on assuming they combined the 2 functions on a 99. My diagram shows 2 connectors, nut my diagram is for a 97 and newer C Class, you'd think they'd be the same.

I assume you are listing the wires in some kind of order (from one side of the mirror connector to the other.
On the garage door opener, the #1 connector is the brown ground wire, so that seems like a "freebie", I'd assume that is correct. The #2 wire is for interior illumination, to "backlight" the homelink buttons, and the #3 wire is the power wire (hot with key on), so you could try jumping power to #3 and ground to #1 and see if the buttons light up when you push them. Possibly the autodim will work then too, but I wouldn't guarantee it because there are these other inputs required and I don't know if the mirror dimming will work correctly without them.

All you have to use are these 2 wires:

2 x brown together (into the same pin on the plug) (ground wires?) - yes, these two are the ground wires - they are grouped together because one is for the mirror itself, one is for the homelink.

2 x blue/white together (into the same pin on the plug) - these two are the power wires - splice them into a ignition switched +12V (i.e. has +12V when the ignition switch is in the first position). I spliced them into the sunroof power wire (which has +12V only when the ignition is in the first position - sorry, I forgot the color of that wire). Again, there are two blue/white wires because one is for the mirror, and one is for the homelink.

I have two wires: 1) Pink-Black and 2) Pink-Red.... which one is the power and ground? and where can I connect them? Thanks
