Too Bad, I just got back fro Asia, if I had known I would join. Maybe next time.

Larry by the way where is your shop? I also live in Dallas, and have a problem with my car.

LarryBible 03-22-2004 03:05 PM

Mino,

I am in NorthEast Texas, not the metroplex. Also, I don't have a shop open to the public. My day job is as an automation engineer.

Everyone,

Due to the fact that Paul is not staying near downtown as in trips of the past, we are changing our area to the "Restaurant Row" area in the NorthWest Highway between Loop 12 and I35 area.

There is a steakhouse on the East side of Loop 12, on the access road just South of Northwest Highway. I think it is a Texas Land and Cattle Company, but I'm not sure. We will be there around 7PM.

Eric,

I tried to reach you to leave a message and sent you a private email. Chris who has posted above in this thread will know where we will be and will be at the number he listed up until about 6:30PM.

Thanks,

Mino Erhan 03-22-2004 03:13 PM

Thanks Larry,
I live very close to that restaurant.
It's not bad actually. Last time I was there, they had a sliced steak on the menu.

Enjoy!!!!

Mino

Okay folks, a little surfin' and I now have it nailed down. We are meeting at about 7PM at the Texas Land and Cattle Company at 10250 Technology West. This is just south of Northwest Highway right between I35 and Loop 12. Halfway between these two highways on Northwest Highway is Technology Blvd. Go South and take the first right.

See ya' there, come one, come all.

Have a great day,

Chris,

Nice cars. The Boss even has the correct wheels.

Everyone,

Well last night was great! Good company, good food and good conversation. It turned out to be a 124 fest. I had no idea what MB's Chris and Eric owned. I guess I was the only one of the group that has much time in anything other than a 124 car.

We didn't get to see Chris car that he shows in the picture, but we did see Eric's 300K + mile 300E and he has kept it in great shape. Mine looked pretty ragged by comparison.

I was really pleased that we all hooked up. I was afraid that we weren't going to hook up with Eric. Thanks to Chris determination, he was able to contact him while I was on the road.

Another thing that I thought interesting was that after riding in my manual transmission, 103 engine 300E, Paul felt that it was really quick and he drives a 104 powered car.

Thanks to everyone for making it and thanks to Paul for Dinner. Nothing like a good ol' Texas Rib Eye to finish off the day, not to mention such great company. I guess the only bad thing was not enough time.

Hopefully we can make it up in July when Paul comes back to town. If someone wants to plan another get together before then I'll do my best to make it.

Have a great day,

Hey,

Thanks for meeting up with me for dinner. This was probably the fourth time I've met up with Larry. It was nice meeting Eric and Chris.

It was a true W124 lovefest, although Larry did his best extolling the virtues of the simplicity of the W123.

Don't listen to what Larry says. His 300E is not raggedy. It's in at least above average condition, especially for 280,000 + miles.

Eric's 300E was in amazing condition for 324,000 miles.

I would have loved to see Chris' E320.

Geeez. I fly halfway across the country to meet up with my Mercedesshop buddies, and drives his wife's Volvo.

Go figure.:D

I'll be back the first week of June.

I'll see you all again then.

OK OK :( ----- Next time I'll bring my wife's E320.... I just cant pry it away from her... And the 940 T-wagon is mine. Yeah, I'll admit it. I'm a square wagon driver. But I do have the boss car in the garage.... so maybe that's not so bad. Larry - yes, those are original magnum 500s on the car - I'll send you additional photos of my progress these past five years (which I'll do later this week). But...my car came with the hubcaps/trim rings. An early, previous owner added these. Did I mention, the day I took these photos were the day started disassembling the car? This was two years ago. Started at the back of the car - stripped the trunk area and tailight panel - and reshot the trunk and back of the car. Pulled the engine, tranny, driveline, suspension and brakes - and stripped the body - and reshot it all with the correct 'slop gray' paint. And am pretty much building it up from there. It's all back together except for the engine right now - and the front end sheet metal. I'll definitely do a bit more painting before I'm done - the basecoat/clear coat is excellent. Just the black accents need help. 37k mile car. One of 1806. My last project - (errr...what I tell mrs. 71Rcode).

Paul - just need to keep some shred of coolness going - as my 3.5 year-old son is impressionable right now. For some reason, he thinks my 940 is like the batmobile. Mebbie he'll continue to buy into that myth for the next few years. But I must admit, the 940 wagon is like having a pickup. You can haul quit a bit of stuff with the back seats folded down. Thanks again for dinner.

And yes - looking forward to the June meet. I'm sure we'll have to get a bigger table next time  with all the guys who might show up. And yeah, next time - I'll bring the MB.

You guys have a great week. Very best regards, Chris

Larry's car is not raggedy. I just happened to have washed my car recently. His car has both a manual trans and euro headlights-adjustable from inside the car!
The meeting was lots of fun. Hopefully others can come next time.
