S420 (W140) SRS light on dash ?
Should the SRS warning light on dash light up while in the key on position before starting the engine? All other test lamps burn--but that one stays dark. Should it light? If dark (like mine), why ?

Most likely, it's a . . .
burned out lamp!

Thanks, JimF and Nhodges
I may have posted without completely checking it out ??
My 95 S420 SRS bulb lights after the engine starts, but only for a few seconds, and only if the my driver door is closed. I have not yet read in the owners manual---which is what I should have checked first. I just assumed it would light at the "on key" position as do all the other warning bulbs. I don't want to go back to the dealer if nothing is wrong, even tho it is Starmarked for another year and 1/2. My selling MB dealer is 2 hours away and might get $$$ signs in his eyes since I paid him too much for a clean low mileage car. I'll get to know my car soon--but it would be really bad to find out AFTER a collision that the air bags did not deploy. I really enjoy my "S" car! Stability at speed is much above my 87 300E traded in after owning it 4 years, 130K-->202K miles. Thanks for your posts about my concern.
