W126 Rear Window Seal

Is there any preventative maintenace you can do on the W126 rear window seal?

When we bought our car almost two years ago, it had been garage kept pretty much all of its life. Now it's being kept on the street, and I don't want this seal to go to hell.

Would a rubber preservative (like McGuyers (sp?) or something like that) help?

Thanks!

126 rear window seal protection

can't hurt. I am continually amazed by the crappy quality of MBZ 'rubber' seals and hoses compared to U.S. and Janapese stuff.

It's just plain cheap--very easy for them to increase amount of UV stabilizer in the rubber formulation and dramatically increase the part life.
