both times in the middle of traffic.
the first time i coasted into an empty parking lot and tried restarting the car. It started fine but my aftermarket stereo system did not come on which i later discovered was due to a loose ground.
the second time the car refused to start for a good 15 minutes. The fuel gauge jumped around alot while the oil pressure gauge would rise to just below the 1 bar. i had my foot on the gas while i had the key twisted all the way to the right. Does anyone know what would cause this?
thanks
doug

You should check the fuel pump relay. I have seen many fail like this.

Do you have an aftermarket antenna also? I remeber on my 190E we replaced the power antenna with an aftermartket unit. After installation, the car would not start. I could not hear the fuel pump charging when the key was turned. I figured the fuel pump circuit had a short. When we checked the wiring to the fuel pump, the ground point was the same point for the antenna (in the trunk). I had not tightened the nut on the ground point properly. Once I tightenedd the nut, the car started. Like the above posts, the fuel pump relay might be the culprit, but if work was done to the antenna, the ground point might be worth looking at. Good luck.
