420sel very low on power

I just replaced the rear main seal on my 420sel and after reinstalling the trans the car barely accelerates. It acts like the timing is very retarded. It ran fine before I pulled the trans. I check all the connectors and hoses and they are fine. Even in park or neutral it seem very sluggish when I try to rev it up.
Help!!

IF you un-bolted the flex plate from the RING then you could have the timing advanced OR retarded 40 deg!

Holy smokes that's not good. I believe you are right! No sense in fussing about it I will just have to do it right this time. Does the ring or the flex plate have some kind of reference mark?

I think this is what you're lookin for....

Look at this website. This addresses your problem specifically. Haasman sent me this site for my problem, and it happened to have this on it too. I guess you'll get really good at transmission R&R huh??:p

Well yes it takes me approx 45 minutes to remove and maybe 1 hour back in. But only because I've practiced twice..... Can't really fault anything or anybody except the guy in the mirror ha ha.

Don't feel so bad as I also goofed up on reassembling the flexplate/ring gear on my 420. It took me a while to figure it out because I had the engine totally disassembled over the course of a month or so. I went back over everything, valve timing, wiring, vacuum lines, etc.,

It was a very humbling experience to say the least.
