Front Bumper Filler Piece Removal Euro Mercedes Star License Plate

I am thinking of removing the filler piece from my front bumper, so that I can get the longer narrower European license plate for the front of my W124. I currently have a partial filler that accommodates the shorter US license plates and I want to try to remove it. There are some screws visible and what looks like a spring mechanism of some kind. It might be very simple to remove, but I wanted to ask before I gave it a try and did some damage. Please advise me on how to remove my partial filler piece.

As a second question, I want to know where to get a European version of the Black powder coat license with a chrome star. I often see the US version of the star license plate, but I have not seen the longer narrower European version. There are lots of places to get a custom Euro plate with whatever letters you want, but I want the black license plate with the chrome Mercedes star. I will certainly ask the dealer, but I thought it was worth asking here on the forum.

My ML has the black with the chrome star (US version) and the SL has the badge version in chrome (also US version).

I had the black euro version on my 300E, but found that it couldn't withstand road debris very well and pitted...so I opted for the chrome one...got it at:

The plastic filler slot is easy to remove...just don't damage that metal rod near the bottom that seems to have a cable attached to it...that's your ambient temerature sensor...
