I noticed the other day that the upper portion of the housing that the thermostat resides in is plastic. I believe that I've seen postings on the list about updating to a metal one.
It appears that this is a simple, straight-forward procedure... is it as easy as it looks or am I missing something? I also noticed in the Performance Parts catalog that they don't sell that piece... is this a dealer-only item? TIA for the help and comments. ------------------ Jay Yambrovich 1989 300 E 1992 190-E 2.3 |
I had to replace my on my 2.3-16 recently. It was a plastic piece. My fine local dealer did not sell just the top, instead they sold the whole kit with the thermostat as well for $300+. Not sure if it was a plastic or metal for the kit. I ended up getting one at the wrecking yard for $10. I do recall on the 190E 2.3 I had, it was a metal housing lid.
Just some useless info for you in case you were going to replace one. DC |
