It is making noise and since it operates only for the first 45 seconds , will it hurt the car to disconnect it? I already spent $1100 for a new one for the 300 and now the 420 needs one, but was told I can do without.

It is smog related, so it has nothing to do with engine performance. (IE it won't hurt anything) HOWEVER, It is illegal in most states to tamper with smog or emmision related items on any vehicle. GOOD LUCK.
