Hi,

The electric windows on my drivers side seem to have died. Both the front and rear windows don't work. But it's a little more strange than it sounds though. The motors work, the windows go down. While they are going down the windows seem to clunk against something and the drivers side gets smeared with lubricant.
The rear window will not go back up and has to be pulled up manually. The drivers window goes up, but seems to go up at an angle and then jam.

Please help!!!

I think the car had a bump with the previous owner on the drivers side, because of the windows, and I think the side has been sprayed.

Thanks everyone

Oliver

As far as the rear window, do a search on this site for "sliding jaw". You will learn how to take the door panels off to investigate. I just fixed my rear window with the help of people on this site. If you have a drill, it is will cost less than $10 (US)- 5 pds to fix and about 4-6 hours of your time if you have never removed the car door panel before. Better safe than sorry.

As far as the front window, did it always do that or it just started to do that? If happened before, most likely it's due to that accident? If it just happened, then maybe a bolt off the window regulator came loose or came off. Either way, I think you need to take the door panels to investigate.

Thanks for the input. I have attempted to take off the door panels, but they seem to be stuck on with glue, and i'm nervous about how I would re-attach them.
Is it just standard upholstery glue??

Thanks

Sorry, I forgot half of the post.

The front window has always clunked a bit, but recently it's started to go down OK, but going up it seems to come 'off track' and jam.

Thanks

OK, as far as the rear window, you are good to go, follow the above advice (in my opinion).

As far as the front window, the previous owner / tech could have broken the plastic teeth that holds the door to the door frame when they removed it after the accident (Probably to knock out the dent).

You need to take the door off gingerly to fix it / analyze the situation or you could leave it be and live with the window clicking. It is up to you.

Or you can take it to a tech and let them deal with it.
