96 E320 (w210) glove compartment removal?
I need to replace the cabin air filters in a 1996 E320 (W210). I've been told it is behind the glove compartment. I found and removed 4 screws, 2 on top and 2 on bottom, but the lining still will not come out. Seems it is still connected at or near the catch. There are two holes on each side of the catch, but I can't see into them or get a screw driver to work on any screws.
Can anyone give me some hints . . . Thanks |
I just did that job. Easy, once you get the glove box out.
There are screws in those holes on either side of the latch and mine were in pretty tight. I used a combination of a stubby philips and a ratchet wrench with a phillips screw socket. They are also difficult to re-install unless you use something like a short screw-holding tool (available at most auto parts places) to stab them . I was amazed at the dirt that had accumulated over 7 years and 65K miles. |
Thanks,
I tried to get a phillips in there but can't seem to get it to hook on anything. I'll try again tonight. Maybe find a small light and mirror, I dunno . . . |
