Greetings,
Engine: M110.985... (Euro) Questions: 1)Recommended spark plugs? (why, etc.) 2)Motor Oil Brand/Type/Viscosity? (We have ETERNAL summer temps here, 68-95 deg. Fahrenheit) Thanks ------------------ Hisham '78 W116 280SE Euro (evenings) '78 W123 300D (left in LA, for vacations) '95 BMW 325i (weekends) '84 Volvo 240GLM (cargo) '95 Proton Wira 1.6XLi (daily driver) |

Use bosch W8DC0 plugs, or Beru equiv.
Oils vary from country to country so stick with a good quality that meets MB specs, & ACEA class A2 or A3 (API class SH/SJ). These engines use a bit of oil so 10w/50 or 20w/50 would be a good viscosity in your climate. |

Thanks M.B. Doc.
Another potential ailment for the Doc's diagnoses:- At cold starts, the motor seems to rumble SLOOOOWLY to life, a sort of stuttering/chugging routine for the first couple of minutes before it gradually smooths out. Once at operating temp.(87C), the engine is sweet sounding and as smooth as any 22-yr veteran could be. This is an M110 280SE with Bosch K-Jetronic injection. Shouldn't the engine automatically rev-up sufficiently for the first few minutes on cold starts and gradually taper off to about 800rpms at/near operating temps? Appreciate all feedbacks. Hisham |

A too rich/or lean fuel mixture will cause this ailment. The warm-up regulator is responsible for this mixture control.
