a/c control panel short

i own a 1987 mercedes 560 sl.I bought a new a/c control panel. The unit came with a warning that I should check all the pins that attach to the unit for shorts. It explained that most of the pins should register with at least 15 ohms and if they register at 0 it means a short exists. Several pins registered 0 so im sure i have a short. My question is what do i do next . How do I go about trying to locate the source of the problem.

thanks for the help dan dahill
