how to install euro headlights

I am thinking about upgrading to euro headlights.

Do you have to get rid of the wiper assm for the headlights? I was looking in a Performance Products catalog and it sez to install them it is necessary to remove the wiper assm. This doesnt say if it is just for installation and then you can reinstall them or if you must keep them off.

I have seen cars with the wipers installed and without them installed.

I'll give you the answer b4 everyone else does- do a search! there's tons of info on this subject. depending on what model, the wipers can be kept with some effort.

The Euro lights have a single glass lens that is much larger than the DOT lamp, so the wiper is set up to wipe a much larger area. The motor is in a different location, and it wipes the opposite direction on the W124, probably on the W126 as well.

The ones you have now won't work, You might be able to swap them right to left, but you will still need a new trim panel with the hole in a different location.

On the W124, I believe the wiper motor from the 95 e400 is the same as the Euro version, but I'm not for sure. That model got the Euro style headlamps (but probably a DOT lens).

I love my Euros, it's like daylight at night compared to the crappy DOTs.

You will also have to get some six hole connector plugs and re-arrange the wires, they are different. Easy to do, just pop the connector apart, pull the "sockets" out of the holder, and put them in the correct holes in the six pin one, then snap the cover on.

huh, I never thought of that.

Guess there is no use reading in here anymore. All of your questions can be answered by simply doing a search.

'92 300e with bosch euros and '94 wiper conversion [2 1/2 years after i got the lights]

I reused my existing US wipers with my Euros on the 300E. If you search you will find a thread that I started with VERY specific information about how I did this without buying new panels.

Even though yours is not a 124 car, I fully expect that you can do the same thing except the dimensions of the fabricated bracket may be different.

Good luck,

Larry:

Maybe, maybe not -- the W126 Euro headlight isn't flat like the DOT one. I'd guess that the wiper bracket is at an angle on the Euro, might be more difficult to install the DOT wiper motor, might not.

On the W124, it's easier to get the trim panel, post 94 motor ($75 on FastLane) and new wiper arm.

frankiez

if [and only if] you buy your euros from capitolwest company, they sell a conversion kit, which allows you to use your original stuff.

that way it doesn't look [IMO] goofy, it will look like it was intended.

Well, while we are disscussing Euro's

Does anyone have some euro wiper assemblies for a 201 that they are not planning on using? Mine have died and Iwould like to replace them.

Thanks
