Mercedes 300TE 1992

My 300TE Wagon is loosing power steering fluid. The fluid is going into the hydraulic fluid resevoir for the ride control system? Eventually, the resevoir overflows, and makes a huge mess!

I am confused, what could be wrong here?

Thanks - William Torres

Your tandem pump needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

On the 124 chassis wagon the power steering pump is also the hydraulic pump for the level control system. "Tandem pump" is the term mercedes uses - really two pumps in one.

Yours has failed internally and the power steering fluid is being drawn into the level control system. Repair or replacement of the pump is the only option.

I'm not sure what effect the presence of power steering fluid in the suspension may cause.

William,

There is a"Gasket Kit" availlable for the Vickers Tandem Pump with
PN: 124 460 15 80. The PN for the kit is : A 000 460 80 80.
It is in group 13 from the engine on the EPC.
