Missing air intake
 

Hello all.
In the photo you can see that the hose that takes the air from the front is missing in my 190E 2.3 8valve. It was removed because the radiator is not original and the piece doesn't fit.
Do you think that leaving the hose as you see here can't deteriorate the performance of the car due to hot air entering in the filter?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

If you measured the air temp in the filter box, you could propably se a slight difference. But as the exhaust manifold is located on the opposite side of the engine, it is no big deal.

Obviously the engine would perform better with the cold air intake intact as designed. Perhaps you can fabricate an extension piece for the intake hose ... that would be an improvement over the current setup, and would support the intake hose end. I am curious. Why was an oversize radiator installed in your car? That may be affecting the engine operating temperature ... best to replace parts with spec parts.

I don't really know. The car was imported to Spain from Belgium, and I also know that the air contidioning system is not original either.
The car runs normally at about 90 degrees, and climbs to about 100-105 degree in traffic although the exterior temp isn't too high. I don't know if this is dangerous or normal in this model.
Any information on this?

90 degrees is not normal temperature, 80 is.

I would look into this.

I also don't think an oversized radiator woudl make a difference since it's the thermostat that controls how much collant goes where, but it might be a radiator that is from a totally different model and was forced in as opposed to installed.

After a very long trip this easter, these are the temps I really get in my 190E:
80º or slightly below in highways (about 15 deg. exterior temp)
up to 110º when stuck in traffic. Other days 100º (about 15 deg. exterior temp).
Do I have to worry when the car reaches 110º at traffic?
