Got new light bulbs for the S420 instrument cluster from the dealer ($30 Can for 6 peanuts). Install and two don't work. Go to remove cluster again and break the freaking clear plastic.

Who knows where to get one? How much? Is the plastic/glass replacable?

Very common -- the cluster is way too tight, and if your tool slips off the very shallow ridges, it will nicely snatch the side off the cover.

Try PartsShop or Rusty at BuyMBParts, otherwise it's a dealer item.

I called Phil but I guess he was gone for the day. What kind of price are we talking about here anyways (approximate).

I accidentally cracked the one on my SL...$372 at the dealer!

The trick is to take your time...patience saves $$$!

And if you did a search, you would have found that there are many threads that are titled "&^$*@%(@&#%" :p ...

G-Benz

Be happy I only did that. My true verbal response would have had me banned from this forum and would have made your eyes water.

I agree...am looking for the deal so patience is definitely the answer. Besides, it gives something to the wife to complain about!

There never seems to be a shortage in that department.

i don't understand why it costs $200+ for the clear plastic piece? Sounds OVERLY priced/expensive for an easy to manufacture piece.

Proprietary MB safety glass of unknown compound usually reserved for Pentagon military contracts...hence the cost!

Extensive use of that rare compound unobtainium.
