Cylinder Misfire

Please Help!

I recently washed my engine off at the car wash and now have and check engine light which is blinking. I went to autozone and they had a code of misfire on cylinder 6. What can I do or where can I look to correct? They car is running very rough and jumping rpms, then it smoothes out. But the blinking check engine has me worried. Is there anything that I can do? Can I drive it to a shop or fix myself. Thanks. 1997 E420 V8

For starters, you could give us the year and model of your car. ;)
Sounds like you may need to invest in some new sparkplug wires.
Does the car run okay after the engine has dried out ?

You must excuse manny and myself. Our mindreading skills just aren't what they should be.

Year and Model please.

Have a great day,

Come on now Larry & Manny,

We know that it is at least a 6 cylinder engine, shouldn't that narrow things down a bit?? It's most likely not a diesel as well.

I am guessing an E-class something or another, probably mid 90's?

Would you consider giving mind reading lessons to manny and myself?:D

Since the check engine light is on, knowing the year and model will be very helpful in this case.

cylinder misfire

It has been two days, and it still is misfiring, not sure if the rain has anything to do with it.

Could you possibly get a hold of 1 " generic " wire ( anything that fits temporarily ), place it on # 6 cylinder & see if the misfire goes away?

patko99's profile shows that his car is a 1997 E420 ... check there when the post lacks that critical information.

i would think its the responsiblity of the person seeking help to describe the make model and year to us in order for us to help. to me, simply listing the problem without naming the car is analogous to saying "can you help me" and then not saying how.
