W210, E300 exhaust question
 

Well I seem to be working through several problems on my e300. The my catalytic converter is rusted through and leaking exhaust -won't pass inspection.

The good news is that there is no diesel emissions in PA.

The bad news is that the part from the dealer costs $1,365!!!

I am wondering if I could put a straight pipe through where the cat. would normally be without making to much noise or causing something silly to happen to the engine.

Is the price for a complete new exhaust ur just the catalytic converter????

You should be able to at least get the catalytic converter for a few hundred $$$$$;)

That was the price just for the CC!! This is why I am considering alternatives...

What does the darn thing do anyway... this is a diesel!!

Can anyone offer more advice on this one?

I really do not know what to do....
