Hi,
Does anybody know if there are any other differences between E420 and E320/E280 (1994) than the engine?

I am in particular interested in the front suspension, front brakes and fenders. I am asking to find out if the OEM wheels of E420 (8-hole alu, 7x16"ET46 with 215/55R16) will fit to E320/E280 which OEM wheels are (8-hole alu 6.5x15ET44 with 195/65R15).

I know that E320 and E280 are exactly the same except a slightly smaller engine of E280.

Thanks,
Tommy with E280(W124),1994

Its a straight swap! The wheels that is. The brakes (calipers & rotors) may be different depending on the year but the suspension and fenders are the same (E500 is where things like this start to get interesting).

Thanks Yal,

I agree.

What I have heard is that the brake discs of 400E -93 and older were thicker than E320 but after -93 they were changed to similar ones as in E320 (94-95). However what is confusing is that at the same time the OEM wheels and rims changed from 15" to 16". Hence, before -93 similar wheels and rims but different brake discs and 94-95 vice versa.

True! But I bet if you check you'll find a similar kind of change in the caliper system which raised some clearance issues in the later models hence the change. You got to hand it to mercedes they beat that 15" 195/65/15 size to death :)
