where is oil drain plug on 1999 clk 320?
I'd like to change the oil myself, preferabley from underneath as Larry Bible recommends. A photo showing where the drain plug is would be appreciated. Many thanks.

After the removing the lower encapsulation panel, it will be very obvious where it is located.

I hope so. The reason I asked is that my 1998 ml320, which I believe has the same engine, was on a lift for an oil change (at a tire place, I admit) while my tires were being rotated, and the service person couldn't find the drain plug!

The oil pan is the lowest, flat portion of the engine. After removing the lower cover, if there are two, it will probably be the rear one, you will see the plug at the rear center of the oil pan.
Hope this helps, |
Thanks, Larry. BTW, do you have any preference on oil filters among those sold by MB, Fram, Hengst, Bosch & the Mann model Fastlane describes as designed especially for the extended oil change interval? Regards,

Mann filters...

Stay away from FRAM!!!!!
I use Mann or Hengst. For my 1997 C280, the OEM filter the dealer sells in the MB box is made by Hengst. And on my vehicle, the Mann filter media has more pleats and thus more surface area. Both are very good filters. |
