WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THE RINGS BEING DAMAGED ON A 602 ENGINE THAT BURST A HOSE AND OVERHEATED ENOUGH TO WARP THE CYLINDER HEAD APPROX. .016". ALSO HOW MUCH DOES THIS ENGINE/TRANSMISSION ASSY. WEIGH. THE ENGINE HAS 160,000 BUT WAS NOT USING ANY OIL AT ALL. ALL ADVICE AND INFORMATION WILL BE APPRECIATED. WILL ANY OTHER ENGINES FIT IN THIS 201 CHASSIS WITHOUT TOO MUCH MODIFICATIONS?

That's a pretty good warp. Unless you had no oil pressure your rings will probably be OK. Get the cylinders clean, dry and oiled as soon as possible to prevent rust in the bores and on the rings.

Brad,
Sounds like the head would straighten up. Did you take it to be milled yet? I didn't get my tools to take apart mine before I leave, so I'll be going to the machine shop in Dallas that I found. If you want his name number and address, Email me. I'll be checking Email as often as possible while in Europe. I'll be going there as soon as I get back, which will be the last week of September. I hope you get some replies which will give you confidence about the bottom end. I'll bet the bottom turns out to be okay. Let me know if I can do anything, I'm in Fort Worth today, and will be at home Sunday and Monday morning if you need anything. Best of luck, Larry |
