Oil change interval on 97 SL 320

I bought this car (my first MB) about 2 weeks ago, and already put 1,000 miles on it..........no problem........as good as a Toyota, so far!!!!!!!!

My owner's manual gives the amount of oil needed for an oil change, but does not state the interval.........absolutely NO maintanence schedule information in the manual........they want me to go to the MB dealer, no doubt. Is there a specified grade of oil?

Thanks.

There is a seperate maintenance booklet that came with the car. This is a pamphlet for keeping track of all service and details every procedure that is carried out at each maintenance interval. This is why none of it is detailed in the owner's manual. They produced a seperate manual for maintenance which from the looks of it, you did not get from the previous owner when you puchased the vehicle. You can probably obtain one from the dealer or by calling 1-800-FOR-MERC.

Oil change interval is every 7,500 miles. Personally, I change my oil twice as often, every 3,750 miles.

Thanks Ali. I only received the regular manual with the car.......at least, I did get the spare tire, and jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just call me whenever you need an oilchange.
I'll do it for free, IF, I get to drive your Ferraris. :D

Manny: I will keep you in mind..........LOL!!!!!!

The TR has the engine out.........am doing the major service on it.

The Boxer just quite on me........am working on it.

I wanted to buy a Mondial convertible, but I didn't need "3" Ferraris tied up!!!!!!!! That is why I opted for the SL. I think I made the right choice. The SL is a great car!!!!

Where abouts in Wisconsin are you located, Henry?

Gilly: I live in Door County. Where is Evansville?

Hey Gilly, don't muscle in on my action. :D
Last time I drove a Ferrari was in 1979, and it was " only " a Dino 246, with that pesky little V-6 engine.
Still haven't forgotten it to this day. ;)

Manny: I had a 246 GT for a number of years. It had a great sound due to the 3 (2-barrel) Webers. Something better, was the Daytona I had............6 Webers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE Door County, especially the slightly less travelled Washington Island. We're coming up there this fall for our 10 yr anniversary, it's where we went for our honeymoon and 5 yr anniversary also, but when I was single I even went up there on my cycle (BMW) for day-trips.
Evansville is about 20 miles S of Madison on Hwy 14, also about 15 mi west of Janesville.
