ignition timing pointer.
Does anyone know where to find the ignition timing pointer on a 300E 1998 W124 M103...???
I can't find mine to save my life. I am looking at the timing chain cover and I must just be looking in the wrong place! In fact, any positions for anyone's timing pointer may help. |
Like most engines of late, it probably doesn't have a timing pointer, since you can not adjust anything. ;)

Fortunately there is a pointer :) Even if iginition timing cannot be physically adjusted, there's still a need for a reference when working on the valve train.
Follow the cable from the EZL unit behind the left headlight down to the crank pulley. The left edge of the bracket into which the cable is attached is the pointer. It's a little to the left of the 1 o'clock position. The 0|T mark on the crank pulley is the TDC indicator. A 1998 300E is a really rare car. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
