Evaporator Temp Sensor on 99 E430
My compressor doesn't run and on the climate control diagnostic display #5 has a value of E - is this the evaporator temperature sensor?
If so can someone give me some info on how to replace this item, what needs to be removed and where is it located. Reading the other posts on other models it doesn't sound like a big job; I hope the W210 is the same. Can I check the old sensor, to rule out a wiring issue; should it have a given resistance at a normal temps? Thanks in advance, Peter |
I can't help you with the replacement of the evap temp sensor on this model but the only reason it would keep the compressor from running would be if the temperature of the discharge air at the evaporator is below a certain value (like freezing). Hopefully, someone will come along here with a better answer.

I test mine with SDS so using the ACC panel is no help to me. However, the sensor is east, remove the l/h lower dash trim, find the gas pedal and look up, there, in the side of the case, 2 wire connector. The sensor is curved so you've got to "roll" it out.

Joe and Jim,
Thanks for the replies, I can see the part looks straightforward to replace. Peter |
