Fuse Frustration

I have a 93 190E and the brake lamps, reverse lights, and a few items on the instrument panel aren't working. According to the fuse diagram all of these items are tied to one fuse. I inspected the fuse and it looks fine but I went ahead and replaced it with a new one any way. Unfortunately the problem still exists. Any idea what would cause this? Just to make sure that the new fuse wasn't faulty, I tried 3 seperate new fuses but the problem wasn't resolved. If someone could point me in the right direction, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks!

:D ;) :(

Dave, sounds like you're having issues with the 16A No. 9 fuse (on some 190E's it's bridged with fuse No.10). Have you checked the continuity of the fuses with a multimeter? Those things have a tendency to look good, but actually be bad. I'm assuming that you took a good red one and swapped it with the suspected bad one.

After the fuse, the issues get complicated. Basically you're looking for a fault after the fuse box, like at a junction connection, better known as a "X" position in the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual.

Fuse Frustration Continues

MTI,
According to the diagram on the fuse box, it is the #9 fuse and it takes a white fuse vs. a red. I have put three new fuses in it and still no results. Anything else you think I should do before sucking it up and taking the ole' gal in to the shop?

Make sure that the fuse contacts in the fuse box are clean. I went through this (four fuses) would work for a few minutes then back to problems again. I used some fine steel wool and polished the contacts .... now seems fine. Geesh!
