Front seat headrest removal
In order to install new sheepskin covers I first need to remove the headrests. I've read somewhere that there is push button release. Does anyone know where this button is located?

i believe it's on the back side of the seat about 6 or 8 inches below the top. maybe a bit less. you can feel it from the backside and if you look at it at an angle you can probably see it as well.

What Craig said.
I'll add that it's usually along the left post viewing from behind the headrest and the headrest has to be raised to the max so pressing the hidden button will release the headrest. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
sixto: Does that mean that if your headrest is not moving by the switch and it's stuck all the way down (in my case) that there is no way to get it off?

What I would do in that case is remove the two screws at the bottom of the front seat rear panel, pull down the rear panel and address the problem with the headrests. If you disengage the drive cable, you can manually lift the headrest to the level of the release button. It will make sense when you can see the inner workings.

Thanks for the responses. I found no switches but did remove the seat rear covers, held with 2 torx fasteners. The head rest is snapped into 2 plastic cups which are part of the headrest drive mechanism. After gently removing the headrest rod ends from the cups, the headrest was removed. So I'm all set!
