Nedd Help Fast!
Hey all!
I'm looking at purchasing a 1990 300E. Overall the car is almost perfect. 145k mi, 1 owner, records, etc. The transmission shifts exellent except for reverse. It gets grumping about dropping into reverse. I was wondering if there was a fix for this or if it meant a full scale rebuild. I may buy the car anyway, as the price is very right ($2100us), even w/o reverse. I ask because I've had a w123 and a w126 diesel that wouldn't go in reverse and all they needed was a spring that could be accessed in the tranny pan. Is this the case w/ a w124? Any links, leads or hints would be met w/ enthusiasm and gratitude! -Matt-
